It's only a couple months old...60 GB?! seriously?! Check This Out KB 3153199 may solve the problem (link is external), simply installing KB3145739 in April 2016 wasn't the ultimate solution for many Win 7 and Vista users and the slow updates returned

Being a retired EE digital signal processor, I know the complexities of code contributed by hundreds if not thousands of SW engineers to build and maintain an OS. I also tried the SURT it took 20 minutes to download and stays on "Searching for updates on this computer" 47k update download 2hrs and counting is ludicrous. by R. Kb3145739 Vista I went through this with VISTA at a time that I did not want to deal with computer problems let alone spend money and time installing from scratch.
The re-load WILL require a Vista serial number from the computer, however (which I had, fortunately).P.S. Wait for the scan and disinfection process to complete.
