After restart I received Update Success notification and no spike in CPU usage.It appears that the process I followed in my earlier post was successful and resulted in the Windows Update Downloaded the five files above and installed them and everything works as should. I also don't know if the fix would have worked with just the KB3177467 update installed prior to installing KB3172305 as per Brad's instructions.
